Terms of Service
The terms you agree to when you download, use or pay for Mochi.
Not yet reviewed by a lawyer
Placeholder, pending legal review
The binding terms of service have not been drafted or reviewed yet. Nothing on this page forms a contract. The points below are the commercial facts the reviewed terms have to reflect, written so they can be checked against the product rather than against a template.
The commercial facts
What you are buying
A licence to use Mochi on your own Macs while your subscription is active. One plan, $12 a month or $96 a year. Payment is taken by a merchant of record, which means your contract for the payment itself is with them, and invoices and tax come from them.
The trial
7 days, with a payment method required to start. No charge if you cancel inside the trial. Cancellation is one click through the billing portal, with no retention screen in the way.
What happens when a subscription ends
Your notes and your pet stay. Your notes are files in your own vault and were never held anywhere else. Transcription pauses, because that is the licensed part.
Your model provider
You supply your own key and contract directly with that provider. Their terms govern that traffic, their bill is yours, and Mochi neither routes nor stores it.
What you must not do
The acceptable use policy covers uploads and generated content. The reviewed terms need to incorporate it rather than duplicate it.
Recording other people
Meeting mode records everyone on a call. Consent is your responsibility, and the recording consent notice sets out what that means.
Devices, updates and availability
How many Macs a licence activates on, how activations are freed, how updates are delivered, and what is promised about availability. Mochi runs locally, so a first-party outage does not stop transcription. That distinction belongs in the reviewed terms.
Liability, warranty, governing law
Standard clauses, drafted for a Finnish sole trader selling to consumers in the EU, the UK, the US and Canada. Consumer protection in several of those places overrides contract terms, so this section in particular must be drafted rather than copied.
Who you are dealing with
