What you are responsible for when you record a call with other people on it.

What meeting mode does
Meeting mode captures the system audio of your call and your microphone, on separate tracks, and separates the voices on your Mac. That means it records everyone who speaks, not only you.
It is started by hand, every time. It never starts on its own and never runs because something looked like a meeting.
What you are responsible for
Getting whatever consent the law requires where you and the other participants are. Rules differ, and they differ by state as well as by country. Some places need only your consent, some need everyone's, and some treat a recorded call differently from a recorded meeting in person.
Mochi cannot know where the other people on your call are, so it cannot make this decision for you. It gives you the reminder and the words instead.
What Mochi shows you
The first time you start meeting mode:
mochi will record this call, including everyone on it. make sure they know.
And a line you can copy straight into the chat:
Heads up, I'm recording and transcribing this call for my own notes.
While it is recording
- The recording indicator on the pet and in the menu bar cannot be hidden or switched off.
- Red appears nowhere else in the product, so a red dot on screen always means one thing.
- Mochi never updates or restarts itself while a recording is running.
Where the recording goes
Nowhere. Audio, the transcript and the resulting note stay on your Mac. Speaker separation runs on your Mac too. There is no first-party server that receives any part of a meeting.
Other people's voices
Recognising a returning speaker uses a voice profile derived from their voice. Those profiles never leave your Mac, are listed by name in settings, and can be deleted individually. See thebiometric and facial data statement.

Review needs to cover the two-party consent states in the US, the wiretap exposure of recording a call from one end, workplace recording rules in the EU and UK, and whether the in-app reminder needs to be acknowledged rather than merely shown.
